When to see a pharmacist instead of your GP
For many common illnesses, you can get advice and treatment from a community pharmacist without waiting for a GP appointment. NHS Pharmacy First covers conditions such as sore throat, earache, sinusitis, infected insect bites, impetigo, shingles and urinary symptoms in women.
Our pharmacists assess you face-to-face at the pharmacy, check that treatment is suitable, and supply NHS medicines where clinically appropriate — or advise you if you need GP or urgent care instead.
- Book online or call us for a same-day slot when available
- Bring a list of your current medicines and any allergies
- Seek urgent help (111/999) for severe, sudden or worsening symptoms
General information only. Treatment is only provided where clinically appropriate after pharmacist assessment.
